Mytheresa appoints Steven Xu as president China and APAC

Mytheresa announced on Thursday the appointment of Steven Xu to the role of president of the luxury e-commerce platform's China and Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, effective July 1.

The Munich, Germany-based company said Xu will be responsible for all Mytheresa consumer-facing activities in China and Asia Pacific, and brings a plethora of ​consumer-centered digital experience in the APAC region to the role.

A digital retail veteran, Xu joins Mytheresa from Ralph Lauren, where he served as vice president of digital marketing and e-commerce APAC, managing the American luxury brand's online business in the APAC region, particularly in China.

Before Ralph Lauren, Xu served as head of digital activation at British American Tobacco, as well as Philip Morris, where he focused on driving the regional digital transformation in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern markets. Previously, he has also worked for Ebay and Edipresse.

The executive holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Paris-Saclay in France.

In its most recent trading update, Mytheresa recorded ​gross merchandise value growth of 13.2% to €186.6 million for the third quarter ending March 31.

Earlier in the year, the e-tailer opened of Mytheresa flagship store on JD.com to increase brand awareness with Chinese consumers.
