As it works to boost its clothing sales with essentials as well as fashion-focused pieces, M&S has taken a deep dive into plus-size with the launch of a line targeting the growing number of UK women who wear sizes 18 to 32.

It’s the retailer’s first-ever plus-size collection but it’s certainly a big one with the new M&S Collection Curve featuring more than 100 SKUs across multiple clothing categories.

An edited 30-piece offer has debuted online this week with the full selection arriving in M&S’s webstore and 30 selected physical stores on January 23. The summer offer will launch in March.

The line was put together with advice from around 2,000 women and the company also worked with prominent plus-size blogger Danielle Vanier, who has over 94,000 Instagram followers, and who designed several pieces in the line-up.

It includes topwear, knits, day and evening dresses, outerwear and a strong weighting towards stretch denim as that was category particularly in-demand, the retailer said. Prices range form £7.50 up to £89.

The company said that fit was a key focus with many of the women telling it that the generous cuts of many plus-size ranges tend to hide the body rather than celebrating it.
