Dutch retailer Coolcat will be launching a design collaboration with rapper and producer Ronnie Flex. The collection marks the retailer’s second design collaboration and is part of its new strategy. In September, Coolcat launched a collection with designer Bas Kosters and announced that the company will soon announce collaborations with well-known (Dutch) names in design, entertainment and sports.

Ronnie Flex, who is currently one of the most popular names in the Dutch music industry, said that it has been a long-cherished dream to launch an "uber-cool yet affordable collection for young people, which include his fans."

Roland Kahn, founder of Coolcat, said: “I recognise myself in Ronnie, who is not only an incredibly creative spirit, but also a real ambitious entrepreneur. His style and attitude are fully in line with the street-smart DNA of Coolcat. Many of our customers and employees love Ronnie and his music. That is why I didn’t doubt a second when Ronnie reached out to us in regards to a collection. Ronnie understands what appeals to young people today. Our designers who worked intensively with [him] were very impressed by his sense of zeitgeist, style and eye for details.”

The Coolcat x Ronnie Flex collection will be available online from 19 October and lands in stores a day later.

Coolcat was founded in 1982 in Amsterdam by Kahn. The retailer operates 110 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Luxembourg and is part of Coolinvestments, which also owns plus-size brand M&S Mode, multi-brand store America Today, and lingerie brand Sapph.
