Following on from Fashion Week, initiatives and events are flourishing inside department stores. Intent on attracting traffic, creating a buzz and therefore, remaining key players in the fashion world, these major retailers are supporting the next generation of design.

La Rinascente in Milan has been hosting a series of runway shows under the banner of "enjoythefrontrow".  Until October 15, customers and visitors were able to watch firsthand the autumn/winter 2016/2017 collections, available to buy now, from brands including N°21 by Alessandro Dell’Aqua, Manuel Facchini, Giuseppe Zanotti, Diesel and more.

To inaugurate the event, the department store invited six emerging designers for a collective show. The group were all part of the design incubator, Fashion Lab, created conjointly by UniCredit, the Italian banking group and the Trade Association of Italian Couture. It's an initiative that gives each designer exposure to the public, but in a collective setting.

As part of the event, in a space next to La Rinasecente, L72, San Andres Milano, Cristiano Burani, Marcobologna, Alberto Zambelli, Twins Florence Edithmarcel and Daniele Calcaterra will have the chance to showcase their collections and potentially, sell them.

In France, Le Bon Marché continues its involvement with young talent with the return of "Meet My Project", an event which intends to democratise the world of design. Eleven design studios -- including Sean Hongxin Zhang from China, the U.C. Design Studio from France and Vito Selma from The Philippines -- have come to present their latest collections, which will be on display inside the Parisian retailer from October 20 for one month.
